"Ryuk, this deal... is out of the question." Light responded to the shinigami's question, closing his eyes shut completely ignoring the surprised sound of Ryuk. It was still night out, and Ryuk has asked Light if he wished to have the 'shinigami eyes' which allowed the human to see everyone's name from on top of their victims head without asking, but in return, half of your life years are cut short giving it to the shinigami.

A blanket of darkness covered the sky outside as thousands of stars glittered as they tried to follow the example of the moon. Streets were illuminated by streetlights giving it a creepy feeling. Little to no people walked around at night, some were to go back home, or to just hang out basking in the glow of the night as the thrill of the unknown was running through their veins.

"Listen, I want to create an ideal, new world free from criminals. I also intend to reign as the god in that world for a long time, with of course, (Y/n) by my side as my goddess." Light revealed to Ryuk leaving the shinigami angered at the mention of (Y/n) being any part of his final act.

"Why (Y/n)? (Y/n) would never wish to be with a human like you, especially when she has a better option." Ryuk scoffed at him, about to pull out his death note but stopped once he heard Light's laugh. "For many reasons, Ryuk. One, why would she want someone who looks like you? Second, I'm smart and will become powerful one day. Third, she cares about me more than you." Light put down his last finger as he snickered at the frozen shinigami.

Ryuk stood still before growling and quickly pulling out his death note, a quill in hand. "You're done for, Light." Ryuk declared and was about to write down his name before the laughter of Light again stopped him.

"Go ahead, kill me, Ryuk! Though, you know what? (Y/n) would never forgive you for it, she cares for me, especially when she has gone through so much trouble as to come here, she'll be furious!" Light continued to taunt him, laughing even more psychologically madly than usual.

Ryuk growled and quickly put back his death note as the quill disappeared, his big red orbs glaring dangerously at Light. "I won't kill you now, but if you so much as think you can make (Y/n) yours, and actually try it, I'll give you the cruelest death imaginable." Ryuk warned him leaving Light to calm down from his laughing fit.

"I would consider the shinigami eyes if it lengthened my life, but it's not worth talking about if it's going to shorten it." Light closed his eyes again, now his face having a satisfied smile. "You of all people should know that." Light stated smugly. Ryuk huffed as he finally calmed down from going to killing Light painfully to wanting to personally strangle him.

"Yeah, I just felt I should tell you a deal like this exists. I don't want you to complain that I didn't tell you about this earlier." Ryuk explained to him, folding his arms across his chest, a glare still pointed at Light. "If you didn't tell me about this earlier? Don't you think you're too late already? You should have told me this when we first met or included this when you were writing instructions in the death note." Light pointed out, his eyes now meeting with Ryuk's

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Ryuk admitted, nothing about his face changing seeming as if he was just calm about the situation. 'Even though I'm a shinigami, he's never been afraid of me or tried to kiss my butt when it comes to things like this. He just gives me a hard time...' Ryuk concluded as he saw Light turn off his light.

Peering over the pole the man saw that the lights were turned off, thinking that Light went to bed he walked away from his hiding place.

"A stalker? I thought I would never meet one!" Freezing he heard the voice of a girl he quickly turned around and saw her wearing a sweater and sweatpants. The man sighed, 'Good, only a high school girl, nothing to worry about.' The man reassured himself and bowed his head swiftly before lifting his head.

"Ma'am, I am not stalking, I was just passing by." The man lied to her, a sheepish smile on his face. The girl tilted her head and smiled. "No, you weren't. If you call hiding behind a pole suspiciously for a good 20 minutes and staring at someone's window just 'passing by' then I have been 'passing by' wrong all my life." (Y/n) countered in a teasing tone, walking closer to him.

"Just who are you?" (Y/n) questioned him, their feet barely only a couple of inches apart. The man stepped back only to be stopped by the wall behind him, sweat falling down his head and onto his jacket. (Y/n) stared at him intensely before smiling. "I would say see ya later, but I don't really want to see you ever again. Bye!" (Y/n) walked away from him and opened her house door, stepping inside and locking the door.

The man breathed a sigh of relief and stepped forward, writing something down on a piece of paper. "I have to look into her quickly, just something about her... sends warning signals throughout my brain." The man shivered at this feeling as if he was just cornered by death.

Walking away from where he stood (Y/n) pulled back down the curtain, a frown on her face. "Things are finally getting serious... Light, be careful, they may not be as smart, but sometimes raw strength can defeat a 17-year-old psycho with the dream job of being a new worlds god." (Y/n) mumbled to herself.

Taking off her shoes (Y/n) walked up the steps of the staircase and her room. Opening the door she quickly pulled down the curtains and walked over and collapsed on her bed.

'This... is too much labor for a shinigami.' (Y/n) complained in her head and groaned.

"Well? You sure there isn't anything else you want to tell me ahead of time?" Light asked him, walking over to his bed and laying next to his death note. "Ryuk the shinigami?" Light finished, putting his hands behind his head, a very bad sleeping position might I add.

"Nope, there's nothing else..." Ryuk replied still staring at Light in thought. 'Probably...'  Ryuk drifted off. "I see. How disappointing." Light mumbled, calmly laying down on his bed. "'Disappointing'?"Ryuk questioned.

"I may have seriously considered the deal if you offered me wings rather than eyes. Wouldn't flying around in the sky with wings be godlike? It's a dream that man has had since ancient times." Light joked and got up from his laying position to sit up and look at Ryuk.

"You'd stand out if you sprouted wings and started flying around. I'd bet you'd get arrested by the police just for that." Ryuk stated, obviously thinking that he was for once, thinking better than Light.

"Ryuk, that was a joke." Light revealed to the shinigami. "However, if I continue to cut deals for eyes and wings... I'm going to end up becoming a real shinigami." Light pondered, clutching the death note tightly in his hands. "That could be amusing, don't you think?" Light asked him, shutting his eyes as if he was actually thinking of himself doing it.

"Don't worry... even without all that, you're already... a fine shinigami!" Ryuk announced. "The Shinigami Realm is already is rotten these days, they all live vacant lives and only take human lives... just because they don't want to die. No one even knows... why we exist. I doubt there's any reason at all for our existence." Ryuk revealed to Light, eyes boring holes in his head.

"Not even (Y/n) knows why, and I can say, you're in the same level as her when it comes to being a shinigami." Ryuk finished saying, Light staring at him with no emotion showing on his face. "Well, from what you're saying, it sounds like I'm doing a lot more work, but don't lump me together with the shinigami. I am using this death note as a human for humans, but I wouldn't say that the Shinigami Realm is meaningless to humans either."  Light explained to him, looking back down at his death note as he flipped through the pages.

"What do you mean?" Ryuk questioned him, his curiosity showing in his red orbs. "Well, think about it. Whenever a shinigami like you comes to the human world once every hundred, no, every thousand years, the human world changes greatly." Light answered Ryuk, eyes trained on him.

"You're wrong." Ryuk blurted out surprising Light. "How am I wrong?" Light questioned him, closing the death note shut. "You were wrong in every thousand years because the most recent one, besides my own, was (Y/n)." Ryuk revealed to Light making his brown eyes widen.

"(Y/n) let her death note go down to the human world?" Light asked him, leaning closer to Ryuk making him chuckle. "It wasn't hers, specifically, but she did that five years ago in the middle of winter. (Y/n) was just curious about what could happen, so she let it go down to the human world. I was there, too, I saw her drop it, she was smiling, too." Ryuk laughed at the memory, finding it funny how fast her smile dropped once the shinigami king called her name.

"Did she also have to follow that person around like you?" Light asked him. Ryuk nodded, "She did have to go, and she was there for a good year before coming back. The owner of the death note relinquished it fearing of getting caught." Ryuk reminisced as the first expression that he saw of the girl was one of relief.

"Apparently, she said that he was planning on killing everyone in Europe causing (Y/n) to panic about getting scolded by the shinigami king. Once the owner of the death note had about a good thousand names down he realized how much people starting suspecting him, and relinquished ownership." Ryuk finished.

Light nodded his head, "So, do you think she would give her death note to anyone soon?" Ryuk quickly looked back at him from staring at the death note and snorted, "Knowing (Y/n), she learned her lesson and won't do it again, but if she were to get too bored... there's a possibility."

Light smiled, "Good."

˜"*°•.˜"*°• ---- •°*"˜.•°*"˜

(Y/n) was peacefully asleep, that was, before the sound of her phone blaring lofi music woke her up. Groaning, (Y/n) got up from her laying position and picked up her phone. Flipping it open she answered it and put it near her ear.

"Who the hell has the audacity to wake me up in the middle of the fucking morning-" Getting interrupted by the familiar voice of Light she sighed. "(Y/n)! Good morning, how did you sleep?" Light asked her, something shuffling around in the other line before stopping.

"Great before you woke me up, we don't even have school today! I'll write your name down in my death note if it's not good." (Y/n) warned him, slipping in her bunny slippers and wrapped her blanket around her figure and got up, opening the door and going down the stairs.

"Sorry for waking you up, but I have a question." (Y/n) groaned at what Light said and opened the fridge pulling out the container of strawberries and opened the lid, eating the delicacy of the juicy strawberry quickly. "Shoot." (Y/n) allowed him, stuffing her mouth with five more strawberries.

"Go out on a date with me." Light announced causing (Y/n) to spit out her strawberries, eyes wide. "Light, just what the hell are you planning?" (Y/n) asked him, cleaning up the strawberries and grabbed a shovel, walking out of the back door of her house, and dug up separate holes to put the strawberries in.

"Nothing, I just wanted to hang out with you more." Light chuckled on the other line. (Y/n) shivered at this. "All I sense are lies, you're going to do something, aren't you?" (Y/n) questioned him. Walking back inside she ate another strawberry and sat down on a seat.

"Nothing, honest!" Light answered her making (Y/n) roll her eyes. "Fine, I'll go, but if something out of the ordinary happens I'll make you my shopping dog for the whole day." (Y/n) warned him, quickly eating the rest of the strawberries.

"Alright, hey, can you come over to my house in five hours? I want you to meet my parents." Light asked her, anxiously twiddling his fingers under his desk. (Y/n) sighed, "Sure, why not? I'm already your partner in crime, so I guess they deserve to know me."

Walking back up the stairs she heard Light let out a victory sound. "Alright, can't wait!" Light exclaimed happily. "I can." (Y/n) dryly said and hung up, throwing her phone at her bed and slumping down in her office chair.

"Light... you're lucky that you remind me of him, or else I would have written your name in my death note long ago."
